Bis zu dreimal im Jahr bietet uns der Kalender diese Datumskombination mit ihrer bekannten mythologischen Unglücks-Bedeutung. Ein Netzwerk von Initiativen aus dem künstlerischen und sozialen Bereich aus Wien entwickelte 2002 einen urbanen Volxbrauch. Das Team und die Verkäufer:innen der Wiener Straßenzeitung AUGUSTIN sind Mitinitiator:innen dieses Projekts. Das Kürzel F13 steht für einen Aktions- und Feiertag für Menschen, denen mangels Konsumkraft der öffentliche Raum entzogen wird oder die gesellschaftliche Diskriminierung erfahren. Die Aktivist:innen lösen spielerisch die Grenzen zwischen künstlerischer und sozialer Aktion auf. Jedes Projekt im Rahmen des F13 ist eigenverantwortlich für seinen Gehalt. Die von Carla Müller entworfene Schwarze Katze ist das Symbol dieses Aktionstages.

Up to three times a year, the calendar presents us with this combination of dates and its well-known mythological connotations of misfortune. In 2002, a network of initiatives from the artistic and social sectors in Vienna developed an urban folk tradition. The team and the vendors of the Viennese street newspaper AUGUSTIN are co-initiators of this project. The abbreviation F13 stands for a day of action and celebration for people who, due to a lack of consumer power, are excluded from public space or who experience social discrimination. The activists playfully blur the boundaries between artistic and social action. Each project within the framework of F13 is independently responsible for its own content. The Black Cat, designed by Carla Müller, is the symbol of this day of action.
